Music video ideas

As my artist inspiration is Lana Del Rey i really wanted to achieve the vintage look her videos are known for, it is highly likely she uses an 8mm camera to shoot her vintage clips in order to achieve the most realistic look possible, however i do not have access to one of those camera so instead i researched and found a way to achieve that same look purely by editing the video on premier pro.

Another idea i came up with is by using film burns as a transition between the shots in the vide, this has become somewhat conventional around the indie music scene with many indie artists such as Lana herself and Soko incorporating film burns into their videos in order to achieve a cinematic/vintage look to their videos. Once again this would have to be edited on premier pro by downloading some already made film burn overlays.

Location scouting

This is the location where the angel sequence will be filmed, In the beginning she will be sat on the small wall and the camera will follow her as she goes through the woods. This is sequence is meant to represent her loss of innocence as the she gets lost in the forest which is a metaphor for her thoughts and mind which eventually lead her into darkness as she gives in to her lovers sinful ways. The music video will be entirely filmed in these woods apart from the home videos which will be filmed in a collection of different places around England as they are my own videos from my day to day life

Ideas update

Music video:

The music video will begin with my model wearing a white dress standing on a hill and looking out beyond the camera shot, it will then cut to some home videos which will be filmed in an app called "Camcorder" on my iPhone which makes the videos look vintage. These home videos will be filmed by me on my own days out to make it look more realistic and from a first person perspective. As the chorus comes on the video will change to a dark room where we can only see the models face and then it cuts back to home videos of the two lovers laying on a sofa. The video then cuts to my model wearing angel wings sitting on a wall in a forest, she will then get up and start walking and the camera will track her movements until she reaches a long path, the video will then cut to some home videos and then on the second chorus it goes back to the dark room where only her face is brightly light.. The video then goes back to the woods where we see the model wonder around the forest completely lost, she goes through what seems to be an arch made out of branches but it only leads her deeper into the woods until she ends up right back where she was and once again more home videos but this time of two older people arguing, the arguing will be played in the background of the song, in the line "everything you do is elusive, too, even your honey dew". On the third chorus there will be a mix of fast passed home videos and the model wondering around the forest and then on the ending line she finds the way out, there's a flash and she looses her wings and runs away through a field

Digipack:

Much of the digipack will be made up of images of the artist and i will be using intertextuality in the cover as the image will be inspired by the poster for the 1962 classic movie "Lolita". There will be a dominance of the colours pink and red and the images will be faded to give them a vintage look often associated with Lana Del Reys work. I will also be including images of candy to further develop a child like innocent image but by using voyeuristic camera angles i will be sexualising something thats seemingly innocent which will play on the sexual selling point of the music industry. The colour scheme will match the name of the album "Into the blues" by contrasting a strong bubblegum pink with a baby blue and this colour scheme will be seen all through out my work to create a synergy between all of my artists media products

Digipack cover mock up

This is a pre production photoshoot to test what camera shot and lighting angles i would use for my actual photoshoot. My initial idea was that the model would be facing forward however ended up choosing a sideways shot as the cover mock up as the lighting accentuated the models facial features and the afro hair style dominates the picture which i think makes a really interesting contrast to the fur of the jacket.

For the cover of the album i wanted the colour scheme to be predominantly pink and green, however i wasn't able to buy a green fur coat therefor i used my own brown fur coat for the hotshot in the hopes that i could edit it in photoshop. To achieve the lighting that i wanted i had to do the photoshoot in the chroma matt curtain room where there is no natural light rather than setting up the green screen. Either way the position i wanted the lights in would still cause shadows therefor i would never have a clean background so to achieve that i had to use the magic wand tool to remove the background. in order to change a specific area such a her hair and the coat i used the Laso tool and edited the hue and saturation. To finish the edit process i used the instagram filter "Gingham" at an intensity level 56 plus edited the brightness, saturation and fade levels.

Digipack ideas

My DigiPack is going an intertextual reference to the movie poster for Lolita. A movie I think my artists music can be easily associated with and a movie my audience would know thanks to its cult status.

My artist will be sitting in front of a desk wearing a fur coat and some overalls, her hair will be in an afro style with some heart shaped sunglasses on top of her head. My model has braces which makes another reference to Lolita. She will either have candy around her to demonstrate her youth and innocence or will be blowing bubble gum. The colours theme will be brown, pink and red.
